Karters set for return to action in third round of Bahrain Rotax MAX Challenge at BIKC on Friday

Karters set for return to action in third round of Bahrain Rotax MAX Challenge at BIKC on Friday

The Kingdom’s premier karting championship is back in action this weekend at Bahrain International Circuit’s (BIC) world-class grassroots motorsport facility in Sakhir.

The third round of the 2024/2025 Bahrain Rotax MAX Challenge (BRMC) is set to take place on Friday (15 November) at Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC). It will feature the island’s most talented karters of various ages and nationalities who will be going wheel-to-wheel in their very own Rotax-powered karts.

Plenty of intense competition will once again be held in the BRMC’s six categories: the Micro MAX, Mini MAX, Junior MAX, Senior MAX, MAX DD2, and MAX DD2 Masters.

Participants will be vying for wins, podiums, points, and bragging rights in the quest to be crowned a champion at the end of the season. The title winners will each get the incredible opportunity to represent Bahrain at the annual Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals – one of the most prestigious karting events in the world.

The action on Friday is scheduled to get underway at 11.30am with the Free Practice sessions for each division. Qualifying Practices then follow from 12.10pm, and then the Pre-Finals take place from 1.17pm. The Finals will then start from 3.05pm, to be followed by the podium ceremonies from 5.41pm.

Close to 40 talented karters are entered in this weekend’s meeting in Sakhir.

Spearheading the Micro MAX category is championship leader Tariq Soofi, who currently tops the season standings with 70 points – 12 ahead of Abdulaziz Alsarraf, who is also competing on Friday along with Rashid Almahroos.

The Mini MAX category features Jude Andrews and Rayyan Najjar, who are atop the table with only three points between them. Jude leads with 57, followed by Rayyan’s 54, while Shaikh Ahmed bin Saqer Al Khalifa is third on 44 points. Shaikh Ahmed is also racing on Friday along with Faisal Alnajjar, Austin Gray, William Lette, Saish Chinchrekar, and Leonard Bossi.

In the Junior MAX class, championship leader Nasser Nass will be hoping to extend the gap from first place, which he currently holds with 70 points. Damir Abali is second on 54, as he, Khaled Najjar, Rashid Hilal, Leopold Juch, and Shaheen Shaheen are all set to see action.

The Senior MAX will see the largest grid line up on the BIKC track this upcoming meeting. Tye Mejia is currently the runaway leader with 69 points – 29 ahead of his closest challenger Mohammed Alhasan. They are a part of a 16-driver field this weekend that includes Gracie Rose Grantham, Sheikh Nasser Al Thani, Talal Alattas, Mohammed Al Arayedh, Abdullah Al Khater, Mohammed Hilal, Najashi Rashdan, Mohammed Al Thani, Evdokiia Karpenko, Yousif Alaali, Musaad Al Bassam, Abdulla Fakhri, Vedant Menon, and Rakan Alfayez.

In the MAX DD2 category, the trio of Abdulla Sajjad, Oliver Kruglov, and Raoul Sadi continue their tight battles, with Mohammed Sajjad joining them in this round. Sajjad leads the championship fight with 65 points, but Kruglov and Sadi are not far behind with 57 and 54, respectively.

Mohammed Al Mahroos will be lining up on the grid in the MAX DD2 Masters class and is expected to strengthen his hold on first place in the table.

Friday’s meeting is being organised by BIC and BIKC in cooperation with the Bahrain Motor Federation, Bahrain Karting Commission, and Motorsport Marshals Club.

The BRMC’s 2024/2025 calendar features eight rounds running until February of next year. Following this weekend’s action, round four will take place on 29 November as the final BRMC event of the calendar year.

Racing resumes in 2025 with round five on 11 January, and then round six is slated for 24 January. The seventh and penultimate meeting will take place on 8 February, setting the stage for the BRMC finale two weeks later on 21 February.
