National Race Day set for 2024/2025 season’s penultimate round this Friday at BIC
The sixth and penultimate round of National Race Day this 2024/2025 season takes place on Friday (7 March) at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’, in Sakhir.
The meeting is set to feature the Bahrain Touring Car Challenge (BTCC) and the Bahrain Motorcycle Championship (BMC) – two of the Kingdom’s premier local racing series.
Action will be held under BIC’s bright floodlights along the 2.55-kilometre Inner Track from 7:40 PM onwards, making for a fantastic occasion of night racing during the holy month of Ramadan.
All are welcome to attend. Tickets cost just BD2 for adults and BD1 for children. They can be purchased online at bahraingp.com, by calling the BIC Hotline on +973-17450000, or at the gate.
National Race Day is organised and run by BIC, in cooperation with the Bahrain Motor Federation, the Circuit Racing Commission, the Bahrain Motorcycle Commission, and the Motorsport Marshals Club.
Isa Ebrahim claimed a fantastic double in the previous round of the BTCC and he will be back hitting the track in his Honda Civic contender. Ebrahim will be going up against Moaaz Elzahrawi, Hamad Khamis, Ali Baqer, and Andreas Buelow, all of whom will also be competing in Honda Civics, along with the Radio Bahrain entrant in a Honda Integra.
Friday’s events in the BTCC will feature a practice session, to be followed by qualifying, and then two races.
Meanwhile, the BMC will boast an impressive field of 21 riders going wheel-to-wheel in two categories – the 600cc and 1,000cc.
Mohamad Alzaidan took the 600cc win in the last round, while Fahad Algosaibi triumphed in the 1,000cc category. Both competitors are returning for this Friday’s events.
Alzaidan will be competing in his Kawasaki ZX6. The other 600cc participants include Shaikh Khalid Al Khalifa and Mohamed Al Sadiq in Triumph Daytonas, Ali Bu Sahri and Abdulrahman Ahmed in Honda CBR600RRs, Faisal Bader in a Honda CBR600, Achraf Hamoud in a Suzuki GSXR600, and the trio of Nasser Al Khadra, Saif Al Buainain, and Hamed Al Tayeb in Yamaha R6 bikes.
Algosaibi will be in the 1,000cc class in his BMW1000RR. Others competing are Hassan Al Awadhi and Mujahed Alkhashram in Yamaha R1s, Nawaf Al Shuaibi in a Honda CPR 100 RR, Bander Bahlul in a BMW 10004R, Fahed Al Hashash in a Suzuki GSXR, Abdulaziz Alkhazan in a KTM Superduke, Bradley Stewart in a Ducati 848 Evo, Marta Di Lauro in a Ducati 899, and Saud Al Toura and Abdulrahman Al Tayeb in a pair of BMW S 1000 RRs.
The BMC schedule will consist of a practice and qualifying session, followed by a single race.
At the end of the meeting, the podium ceremonies will take place for both series.
National Race Day is scheduled to feature seven rounds this 2024/2025 season at BIC, to be held all the way through to May.
