BIC crowns 2024/2025 champions of Bahrain Rotax MAX karting

  • Tariq Soofi, Shaikh Ahmed bin Saqer Al Khalifa, Nasser Nass, Tye Mejia, Abdulla Sajjad, and Mohammed Almahroos win titles in their respective categories after eighth and final round

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’, crowned over the weekend the 2024/2025 champions of the Bahrain Rotax MAX Challenge (BRMC).

The Kingdom’s premier national karting championship held its eighth and final round at BIC’s world-class grassroots motorsport facility, Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC), and the title winners from this season were finalised.

Tariq Soofi, Shaikh Ahmed bin Saqer Al Khalifa, Nasser Nass, Tye Mejia, Abdulla Sajjad, and Mohammed Almahroos all emerged as winners of their respective BRMC categories. Along with their champions’ trophies, they each also came away with a ticket to represent Bahrain in this year’s Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals (RMCGF) – one of the biggest annual events in the sport.

Young Tariq secured the title in the Micro MAX category. He finished the season with 267 points – 50 ahead of runner-up Abdulaziz Alsarraf. Rashid Almahroos was third overall with 180 points.

Tariq wrapped up his championship in style, securing the win in the last round’s final with a time of nine minutes 26.787 seconds after nine laps around BIKC’s 1.414-kilometre track. Rashid followed in second 4.390 seconds behind while Abdulaziz came third 5.955s adrift.

The win in the final marked Tariq’s sixth of the season.

Shaikh Ahmed took the championship in the Mini MAX category. He scored 246 points this season to go 28 clear of Jude Andrews in second place. Rayyan Najjar claimed third with 174 points.

Jude was the winner of the Mini MAX final in the season-ending meeting. He took the chequered flag after nine laps in 8:59.685 – 5.542s ahead of Shaikh Ahmed. Rayyan joined them on the podium 5.995s back in third place.

Shaikh Ahmed ended this campaign winning six of the eight finals, while Jude won for the first time over the weekend.

Nasser was the runaway winner of the Junior MAX title. He headed into the concluding meeting just five points shy of the maximum total from the previous events. He finished with 250 points while Demir Abali was a distant second on 185 and Khaled Najjar came third on 182.

Rashid Hilal won their final round in 14:05.342 after 15 laps, beating Demir by 0.964s. Ahmed Jaweed was 1.138s back, while Nasser did not start the race.

Mejia secured the crown in the Senior MAX category, which featured the largest and most tightly contested grid throughout the season. He won the title with 222 points, while Mohammed Alhasan came second on 174 points and Vedant Menon third on 160.

In this campaign’s finale, Luca Houghton stepped onto the top step of the Senior MAX podium after completing the 15 laps in 13:39.975. Gracie Rose Grantham was the race runner-up 1.231s behind, and Mejia joined them on the podium 4.005s from Houghton.

Sajjad captured the championship in the DD2 MAX class, where he overcame a tough challenge through eight rounds from Oliver Kruglov and Raoul Sadi.

Sajjad did enough to secure his title with 247 points, while Kruglov followed on 225 and Sadi came third on 211.

Raoul was the victor over the weekend after beating Kruglov by just 0.466s. Sadi had a total race time of 13:39.812. Mohammed Sajjad finished third 5.1768s from first.

Finally, Almahroos capped a one-sided DD2 MAX Masters title bid, finishing with 210 points while taking the season-ending race win. Khalifa Delaim was second on 67 points and Roberto Giannotti came third on nine points.

Almahroos won the two-horse, 15-lap final against Delaim with a time of 13:55.714. He enjoyed a 10.557s gap from Delaim.

At the end of all the action, the winners from the BRMC’s eighth and final round were awarded their respective trophies in the podium ceremonies attended by officials from BIC, BIKC, the Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF) and the Bahrain Karting Commission (BKC).

Representative tickets to the RMCGF were also presented to the newly crowned champions.

The BMRC was organised and run by BIC and BIKC in cooperation with the BMF and the BKC.
